The Stark County Crime Stopper, Inc., was formed on November 15, 2018, when bylaws were adopted. A kickoff breakfast was held April 23, 2019. The Stark County Crime Stopper, Inc., is overseen by its board of directors, which meets no less than nine times annually. Each Crime Stoppers organization, both nationally and internationally, is autonomous.
The Stark County Crime Stoppers was started with the help of various individuals, faith-based leaders, government officials, and community and government agencies. Among the agencies supporting The Stark County Crime Stoppers are the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office and Stark County Sheriff’s Department.
Rewards are based on a case by case basis. The higher the reward, however, the more serious the crime. All leads have to be verified, so the process isn’t instantaneous.
In Stark County, text messages and emails will be received, and the location and the type of information will be relayed to the appropriate department and tracked. Remember these are for tips coming in, not an active crime—911 handles those.
The Stark County Crime Stoppers includes an anonymous tip link, text message option, and “Information Needed” posters to assist law enforcement agencies in Stark County find and convict perpetrators of committed crimes.
Our goal is to empower community residents and give them a voice so they can help keep their community safe. Each tipster remains anonymous through a unique random number provided at the time the tip is made through to the opportunity of receiving a cash reward.
